 About our Governors

Louise Stewart – Headteacher

Type of Governor: Head Teacher

Term of Office Start Date: 1st September 2018

Groups Involved with:  All

I have been the head teacher of Charter Primary School since September 2018 and prior to that I was a deputy headteacher at Wyken Croft Primary School.  I relocated from Suffolk to Coventry in 2015.  Whilst living and working in Suffolk, I worked as an advisor for the local authority where I gained many skills that I have enjoyed transferring to the role of head teacher.  I grew up in Binley Woods and my grandparents lived in Canley all of their married life so I am very familiar with the area.

Bridie Cooper – Chair of Governors

Type of Governor: CG

Term of Office Start Date: 4th January 2021

Groups Involved With: Quality of Education

I strongly believe that a good education is life enhancing and provides a springboard for children to develop social and academic skills which enable them to prosper and make the most of their opportunities. This belief underpins my work as a governor at Charter.

I have now retired but worked in education for forty years, latterly supporting mainstream schools in Coventry with pupils with special educational needs. My experience ranges from working with individual children and parents, classes and whole schools to developing and managing city wide provision.

I am proud to work alongside the staff at Charter so that in partnership we can provide the best possible education for all the children in our school.

Mary Roberts – Vice Chair Person

Type of Governor: CG

Term of Office Start Date: 12th July 2018

Groups Involved With: Behaviour, Attitudes & Personal Development

Other School Governor Posts Held: Wyken Croft Primary School – Parent Governor

I have lived in Coventry since getting married, and worked as a teacher in Secondary Education. From the beginning of retirement in January 2015 I have been an active sports person and a volunteer at Coventry Cathedral, as well as with the Royal Osteoporosis Society. My wish is both to support the school in moving forward, and to support the children in striving to achieve their aspirations. I believe that good education helps to provide well rounded, respectful and fulfilled individuals. I hope that my educational background will assist me in providing some strategic direction to the school.

I started at Charter Primary in September 2019 having worked previously at Wyken Croft for many years. I have worked across the year groups and within the enhanced SEN provision at Wyken Croft. As a Charter Primary Staff member and a Co-Opted Governor, I am enthusiastic about ensuring we provide the best possible education we can to help the young people in our care, to achieve their full potential. In the past I have been on boards of several youth-based charities across the city that work with and for young people and adults..

Amit Kumar

I am very passionate about education and giving back to society through education. I have been involved in spreading awareness on STEM subjects with schools as a business ambassador in the past to encourage young children towards STEM. Though the school governor programme, I would like to use the skills I have developed and used over 15 years of professional experience to work with Charter Academy on their strategy, operations, governance and forward looking programmes to ensure children are better equipped with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in tomorrow’s world. Environmental awareness and social responsibility is another key area I would like to bring into the mainstream focus.
